Wider dissemination and application of lessons learned

The WASH sector is good at generating knowledge and learning, but there is a need to increase the extent to which this is based on practical evidence of success at scale.

The information is not always effectively disseminated to key stakeholders in a way that can be readily applied in programmes and plans.  Many utilities in developing countries do not know how to significantly improve services in low income areas and do not understand the pitfalls and obstacles.

A lack of understanding or appreciation of relevant policies by key actors also contributes to limited implementation. This situation has arisen in part because application of learning through training and capacity development is limited or ineffective, as is access to relevant evidence-based training and learning exchanges.
